How PC Gets Infected?????????

In this blog entry, I’m gonna talk about the top internet myths, Many of them they use to think that the free antivirus software can ensure a safe browsing experience and some may still bank upon firewall to guard against virus attacks and also some of them believe that malware spreads through e-mail only?

Yes , in my point of view.  Now days the internet crime is increasing at an alarming rate, this is important for internet users to be safe. Internet myths are,

·         When PC is infected, many of them assume that computer will immediately crash or some functions will be disrupted or missed or software will not work for longer and nowadays PC infection is made visible by crashes, limited computing power, suspicious pop-ups or other characteristics.
·         Free AV software doesn’t offers the same security as paid one because the paid version includes a range of security components like HTTP filter, a firewall, an anti-spam module and behavior-based recognition of malware.
·         Cyber criminals have moved on from email attachments to lure users to malicious sites. Around 54 percent of them still believe that most malware spreads through e-mail only.
·         Two types of drive-by infection, one is cyber criminals try to lure victims to the infected website by publishing interesting links and the other one is a malware code which is smuggled onto a popular website. Around 50 percent of them believe that PC’s will not get infected by opening an infected site.
·         Around 48 percent believe that, the majority of malware is distributed via number of other malicious websites and this is one of the routes to getting malware.
·         Many of them think that, by visiting a porn site, will the PC gets infected?  Yes is my answer because pornographic websites can harbour a higher risk overall if they exist for dubious reasons. However, the potential threat from serious sex sites is not so great.
·         Installing a firewall on PC will not effectively protect a PCfrom drive-by infections using a firewall alone because firewall cannot always prevent the malware from running its malicious tasks but 26 percent of them believe that firewall alone can guard their systems.
·         Some may think that they don’t visit risky sites so they are safe from drive-by-downloads but it is not, cyber criminals want to exploit highly trustworthy sites to cause maximum havoc, done by manipulating web banners and constantly attacking large domains.
·         Without opening an infected file, you think that you are safe, its right but it is possible for the malicious code to be activated automatically without clicking on the infected file.
·         USB sticks doesn’t carry malware, the autostart functions in data media is exploited for running malware programmes when its connected to the PC. When it is recommended that the automatic run function in the operating system is disabled and this prevents worms from being installed when USB stick is connected.

I think this was useful information to all. Many of them they don’t know how malware cause and how to prevent your PC without getting infected.Surely this will help you out!!!!!!!!!
