Electronic Skin, is like a Temporary Tattoo!!!!!!1

In this blog entry I’m gonna talk about an Electronic Skin, when I heard this, I thought it is a skin which can be used by the patients for any damages, scars, on their skin without doing plastic surgery which leads to less cost but I thought was wrong.

It is like a Tattoo that can record heartbeat, brain activity and muscle contractions accurately. This skin is not thicker than human hair but has sensors, antennae, light-emitting diodes and other components. This patch was created by John Rogers who is a materials scientist at the University of Illinois.

It is not a permanent patch, can be applied and removed as a temporary tattoo, and it sticks to the skin without adhesives. It was tested on the throat, it sensed the spoken words well enough to control a simple computer game, and it was done on throat because it really highlights the mechanical invisibility of these epidermal electronics, even on a sensitive part of the body.

This electronic skin is sandwiched between two protective layers. This sandwich sits on a stretchy sheet of polyester designed to match the physical properties of skin. It is powdered by embedded solar cells or by inductive coils that can be used to generate current wirelessly.

This electronic skin is less than 40 micrometers thick and circuits are fashioned as a net of narrow S-shaped filaments which helps to stretch and contract without breaking. This patch falls off after a few days; the researchers are looking for ways around this, so they can be worn for months at a time. Making of Electronic skin is also expensive.

This technology is useful for us in all the ways, which keeps eye on health accurately. I think they’ll create still more advanced technology in future.
